The painter drew inspiration from the paintings of Giacinto Gigante who in 1800 was the head of the School of Posillipo. One of his favorite themes is the view of Capri, discovered by European painters of the nineteenth century thanks to the works of Gigante. A passion that is not limited to the observation of nature, but also involves aspects of daily life on the island. In this painting of exceptional intensity, full of an intimate atmosphere, De Robertis goes beyond the descriptive data to transform the image in a vibrant and romantic vision.
