Still life – Dutch School – Oil on canvas

The painting by Salvatore Marinelli is a still life, black and white grapes, peaches, melon, a basket of pomegranates and figs. Objects and light are intensely studied and painted with wonderful tenderness with variety of fruits. Marinelli is inspired by one of the many works by Adriaen Coorte, a Dutch painter of the golden age specialized in “table still lifes” with flowers and fruits illuminated from above, with the dark background typical of early century still lifes.
