Massimo D’Orta was born in Naples in 1950 where he currently lives and works.
He has an atypical character in contemporary art: he has been producing paintings for about 35 years, but exhibits very little. In fact, his public appearances are rare: as if his vision of creating it was very similar to that of the Paleolithic painter who created his graffiti in the darkest part of his cave not for an aesthetic purpose, but to satisfy a psychic need made internal to soothe his fears and anxieties.
