Venice, the Rio dei Mercanti – In the Manner of Francesco Guardi – Oil on oval canvas

The canvas by Giancarlo Gorini is inspired by the work “Il rio dei Mercanti” by the Italian Venetian painter Francesco Guardi, who trained in the same and important school of landscape painters with Canaletto and Bellotto. The painting reinterprets Guardi’s Venice which expressed itself with an almost intimist, minor trait, typical of the production of an artist that only history has been able to raise to one of the greatest exponents of 18th century lagoon landscape painting.
